Gresford District Historical Society

The Gresford district has an extensive and rich history extending back to the first settlements in the 1820’s and collecting, preserving and making accessible the stories, artifacts, documents and photographs which chronicle this history is the fundamental  purpose of the Gresford Historical Society.

Our immediate priority is the achievement of our own building so that we can appropriately archive and make accessible our considerable collection.  At present we are reasonably well advanced with this and are hopeful of being able to realize this goal in 2015.

New members are always welcome – especially if you have time and energy to contribute.  A knowledge of Gresford history is NOT essential. We meet, (often rather informally) on the 2nd Monday in the month at 10:30 am in the Gresford RSL room – but not usually in June or January.

Our  executive is:

president, George Sales 49389639
vice presidents,  Paul Wright 49388171 & David Wells  49389428
secretary,  Lorraine Ashard 0428385259
archivist,  Delma Lawrence  49389589
treasurer/ public officer , Allan Hancock 49389718

Back to Gresford day

Sunday Oct 22nd from 9am to 2pm at the Gresford Historical Society Centre, Therese Doyle Hall, 12 Park St Gresford.

A day for those with connections to the Gresford district.

Catch up with relatives and friends and help Historical Gresford begin the countdown to our bicentenary - just a few years away now. Don’t forget to round up those old photos, documents and family trees so that we can scan them on the day and add to our archives.

There will be live music, coach rides, classic cars, market stalls, old tractors and a chocolate wheel with great prizes and of course displays of historical photos.

A BBQ and Mackie’s roast lamb sandwiches will be available for lunch and there will be a free jumping castle for the kids. A wide range of Historical Society publications will also be available.

For more information ring Allan on 49524113.
