Gresford District Historical Society

The Gresford district has an extensive and rich history extending back to the first settlements in the 1820’s and collecting, preserving and making accessible the stories, artifacts, documents and photographs which chronicle this history is the fundamental  purpose of the Gresford Historical Society.

Our immediate priority is the achievement of our own building so that we can appropriately archive and make accessible our considerable collection.  At present we are reasonably well advanced with this and are hopeful of being able to realize this goal in 2015.

New members are always welcome – especially if you have time and energy to contribute.  A knowledge of Gresford history is NOT essential. We meet, (often rather informally) on the 2nd Monday in the month at 10:30 am in the Gresford RSL room – but not usually in June or January.

Our  executive is:

president, George Sales 49389639
vice presidents,  Paul Wright 49388171 & David Wells  49389428
secretary,  Lorraine Ashard 0428385259
archivist,  Delma Lawrence  49389589
treasurer/ public officer , Allan Hancock 49389718

Australia Day 2018

Aust-day-poster160

Looking for something different to do on Australia Day?
Why not come to the Gresford District Community Group Australia Day Family Picnic and Recognition Awards on 26 January at Orana Park, East Gresford. Pack your lunch, your cricket set, soccer ball and any other games you have and come to The Community Group Australia Day Family Picnic at Orana Park from 11.30 on Australia Day.
Everyone is invited to bring a picnic lunch to Orana Park – BBQ’s are available – the Community Group will provide some undercover tables and chairs or you can bring a rug and sit under one of the lovely trees and have a family fun time with members of your Community.
Those who have been nominated for the Australia Day Recognition Award will be introduced and recognised. Why not then join in a game of cricket or soccer, either for the children or those young at heart who would like to participate.
